Matthew 11:7

Matthew 11:7 (King James Version)

And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

Matthew 11:7 (aletoledo Version)

After the crowds had left and only the truly faithful had remained, Jesus explained the importance of John the baptist’s ministry. “If you’re going to expend all the time and energy to seek out John, then why would you want to see mere glitz and no substance?

Did you expend all the time and energy just to end up right back where you started? Don’t be tricked by the glitz and glamor, because if that is what you were after, then you could have gotten that already at home.”
